A Liu Yao figure contains six lines, but the practice does not stop at recognising a hexagram. Later manuals developed a vocabulary of movement, relation, strength, constraint and timing for a defined question.六爻卦有六个爻，但实践并不止于认出一个卦名。后世著作围绕一个明确问题，发展出关于动静、关系、旺衰、制约与时机的语言。
That is why a useful consultation begins by framing the matter. The method can organise attention; it cannot remove uncertainty or take responsibility for the decision that follows.因此，有用的咨询从厘清事项开始。方法可以组织注意力，却不能消除不确定，也不能代替当事人承担随后作出的决定。
